About
Yorkshire Kin
Bernie
Finn has recently returned to Yorkshire after 33
years in Australia and lives in Skipton, the heart of the
Yorkshire Dales.
He
has over 30 years experience in family history research. Bernie
was director of the Launceston LDS Family History Centre for
4 years from its induction and was also a member of the Tasmanian
Genealogy Society in which he served as committee member.
He studied History at the University of Tasmania.
Bernie
originally learned the art of family history the hard way
- making sense of how to find records and how to use them
from 12000 miles away in Australia. Any wonder that the Internet
is now his best friend! Not to mention that Bernie is at his
happiest when he is immersed in endless rows of text, or wandering
around graveyards!
Research
into his own family history extends to the 8th century and
includes Blakeboroughs, Coats, Potts and Swales. Also, Robert
the Devil who was Duke of Normandy and William the Conqueror's
father. (Probably half of Yorkshire folk came down that line!)
